Development Coordinator
Department: Marketing/Development
Reports To: Managing Artistic Director
FLSA Status: Part-time (10-20 hours/week) to Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Hourly Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour DOE
SUMMARY:
The Development Coordinator (“DC”) engages with audience members, potential sponsors, and major funders by analyzing patron data and executing strategies, programs and events designed by ETP’s Managing Artistic Director to deepen relationships with ticket buyers for longer-lasting engagement. The DC’s primary focus will be to build and cultivate a portfolio of high-potential foundation and corporate prospects that align with our mission and fundraising goals. This will involve conducting thorough research to identify new funding opportunities, philanthropic sources, and corporate sponsorships. The DC also assists with occasional clerical duties, as needed, and engages in philanthropic development activities with audience members, sponsors, and major funders from time to time.
The DC should be a great storyteller and be able to champion ETP’s mission. This role will require a succinct and clear communication of ETP’s narrative impact and strategy tactics, blending the desire to create immersive theatre (our mission) and to listen to our community to build on ideas that will help craft future programs for ETP.
DUTIES:
Work with the Managing Artistic Director to:
Craft and execute comprehensive fundraising plans that align with ETP’s revenue goals
Assist in the creation of funder-facing materials
Effectively frame and write on fundable projects/narratives
Plan and implement special events (galas, fundraisers) and attend same
Identify and define existing patrons in the database based on type of purchases, frequency of purchases, event attendance and overall contributions to the organization.
Research grant and resource opportunities, including foundations, businesses, potential sponsors, and government agencies, and contact same for connections and meetings
Assist in preparing audience surveys, polls or questionnaires, and designs means for collecting data for each project for contributing to ETP’s impact statement
Assist in conducting surveys and focus groups to analyze customer purchasing patterns, preferences, and the organization's image and marketing effectiveness.
Present persuasive proposals for new corporate and foundation support as needed
Maintain a grant calendar and master database to track and monitor grant applications, pending grants, grants received, and final reports
Visit with donor and sponsor prospects, neighbors, and community members, and keep accurate data and contact records
Ensure timely, accurate acknowledgement of all gifts and tax receipts
Prepare initial grant applications and proofread outbound grant materials
Identify, engage, and maintain new revenue streams
Respond to audience inquiries, if needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree and two years of theatre development experience.
Language Skills: Ability to speak and write eloquently and effectively to potential donors, audience members and other members of the organization
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, and able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations when the Managing Director is unavailable
Present Professionally: Able to meet potential donors and sponsors in a professional, respectful manner
Strong Networking Skills
Ability to build strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners
Ability to work independently to manage one’s time and meet deadlines; and
Commitment to working collaboratively with a small team of motivated individuals.
OTHER SKILLS: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel), Ludus, and Google Drive; experience with Slack a plus.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Team player. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Owning a car is a plus as it will facilitate face-to-face meetings more efficiently.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Primarily an office position, requiring frequent use of the computer.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work at home 75%, in the theatre space 15%, and meeting with potential donors and sponsors 10%. Work from home hours will slightly change during fundraising event weeks.
